Liability notes regarding wooden products

The material wood is a natural product with excellent characteristics. The structure of the wood produces a variety of benefits for further processing. Differences in grain, structure and colour are a sign of and the guarantee for the natural properties of the grown material wood. Being an organic material, wood is also subject to certain restrictions in use that should be observed.

Humidity

Being a natural product, the material wood is in a constant equilibrium with the ambient climate. If relative humidity changes, the wood expands and contracts, which might result in fissures and cracks. Ensure that the climate in your home is comfortable. When under extended influence of humidity, the structure and thus the strength characteristics of wood might change. In higher humidity, the material wood is subject to a faster or slower biological degradation process, depending on the wood type. Apart from other refinement processes, constructive wood protection is an efficient measure to protect the wood.

Natural durability

The natural durability of wood types and wood products varies. Please find out whether certain wood types and wood forms are suitable for outdoor use. If correctly and professionally used and maintained, the potential risk can be reduced substantially. For instance, it is important to use resistant or refined wood types for terrace floors. During installation, make sure that the wood does not contact the ground directly. Surface treatment outdoors is not always purposeful and also not absolutely necessary.

Surface

UV radiation and weather influences will result in unavoidable changes in the wood surface (e.g. resin discharge, formation of cracks and slates, etc.), which may be corrected by mechanical treatments (e.g. subsequent grinding, etc.). Such changes in the material cannot be completely prevented even if the wood is treated properly. Please ask the expert for suitable surface treatments (e.g. impregnation, oils, waxes, paints, etc.) or glues. When you purchase a wooden product, always inquire whether it is suitable for the intended use. If you use or change the purchased wooden products technically, please make sure that you use the respective products correctly for the intended purpose. Injuries may occur especially during processing. Therefore, make sure that you observe and use the respective protection regulations, protective devices and protective clothing.

Burning properties

The material wood is a biogenic material. High heat influence and open fire sources may result in ignition and fire. During storage, make sure that the material wood is not stored together with self-inflammable materials or is exposed to open fire sources. Wood has controlled burning properties. Specific fire resistance classes result from the dimension and wood type and the respective degree of processing.

Information on technical personnel

Please observe that certain wooden products might not be suitable for certain applications. Always inquire whether the wooden product that you purchased is suitable for the intended use. The technical staff will gladly assist you with any information on the suitability and options of use of the wooden products you purchased.
